Mr. John A. Coleman Jr., 51, affectionately known as "JohnJohn/Hon Blick", departed this life suddenly, Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Tri Cities Medical Center, Hopewell.
"JohnJohn" was born October 9, 1973, at Kenner Army Hospital, Fort Lee, Virginia to John and Heidi Coleman Sr. John attended Petersburg High School in which he was a section leader of the PHS Marching Band's drum line. John John was a talented percussionist and loved to sing. John had a deep and enduring passion for music, finding inspiration and emotional connection through melody and rhythm.
Throughout John's adult years, he spent most of his career in factory and warehouse environments. John took pride in a job well done and earned the respect of all who worked alongside him. His laid back and jokester spirit created many connections with almost any person he encountered. John loved spending time with his family and friends bowling, playing card games, shooting pool, or just simply hanging out poolside.
A devoted Washington Commanders fan, John rarely missed a game and proudly wore the team's colors through every season-win or lose. His passion for football was matched only by his loyalty to the team. Sundays were often spent surrounded by family, friends, food, and team spirited trash talk. John John will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John was preceded in death by his loving Mother Heidi R. Coleman, his son, Kijon A. Coleman and sister Debra C. Hart.
Left to cherish his precious memories are: his father, John A. Coleman Sr. his children, Jonniece and Jada Coleman; brother, Michael Coleman Sr. (Linda); his companion, Kimberly Jones; aunts, Susanna Hildabrant, Rosa Coleman and Gladys Hale; nephews, Michael Coleman Jr. and Nicolas Coleman; many devoted friends to include, Rev. William N. Bland (Trip), Harold Jefferson, Samuel Parham, Robert E. Truly Jr (Dick)., Carlos Dickens, Keljuan E. West Sr. and Eugene Parker Jr. (Killa), his Berkley Manor family, a host of work friends and many others who loved and cherished him.
"JohnJohn's" spirit will be carried in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life for John A. Coleman Jr. will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Petersburg Chapel of Bland Funeral Home, 137 Harrison Street, Petersburg. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. Public visitation will be held from 10am-8pm, Friday at the funeral home.
