I was fortunate to meet Marlin in 1971 while living in Miami, Florida. I found him to be polite and a gentleman at all times. Condolences to his family. He was a shining light who will be greatly missed.

To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this great person who quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Marlin Briscoe was the first black starting quarterback in the American Football League when he started a game for the Denver Broncos in 1968. He had a wonderful career in football. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Marlin Briscoe. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Marlin. We will never forget that he won two Super Bowls as a receiver with the Miami Dolphins, what a tremendous goal and accomplishment.

I just saw word of his passing, my deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and family! He was an awesome individual who I had the pleasure of meeting many years ago. I met him while working for a child day care organization, I have no words; having just realize that he's no longer with us, may he be at peace!

I've seen highlights of Marlin's play at QB, when he was with the Broncos. He displayed remarkable mobility, presence of mind, quickness, and passing skills. His coach at the time, Lou Saban, delighted while giving accounts of Marlin's dynamic QB play and ability to excite the crowd!

I was able to watch Marlin live, during his years on those legendary Dolphin teams. He was a weapon at the WR position, and he added a versatile element with his passing abilities (on "gadget" plays). Plus, he could play QB in a pinch!

Rest in peace, Marlin. You were a talented, exciting, and clutch performer, and one of the great personalities, during that wonderful era of AFL and NFL football.
