Marlyn Ann Kline, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6.
Born on September 29, 1931, in Sterling, Nebraska, Marlyn was the loving daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Herr) Kritner. On June 14, 1951, she married the love of her life, Richard A. Kline, in Lincoln, Nebraska, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 64 years.
Marlyn’s caring nature and strong work ethic were evident throughout her life. She worked as a secretary for the University Agricultural College and later became a familiar, friendly face working at the Savanna Tastee Freez for about ten years.
Her relationship with her husband was second only to her relationship with God. Her life was one devoted to ministry. Not just in the church, but in her every day, she strove to give the love and care of the Lord to all around her.
She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: reading, singing, and above all, helping people. Her greatest love, however, was her family, whom she cherished deeply.
Marlyn will be dearly missed by her surviving family, including her son, Gary Kline of La Crosse, WI; her daughter, Janis (Jim) Bickford of Davenport, IA; her daughter-in-law, Karen Kline of Carbondale, IL; her eight beloved grandchildren; and fifteen cherished great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Anna; her loving husband, Richard; her beloved son, Greg Kline; her sister, Blanche Heidrich; and her brothers, Glen Kritner and Harold Kritner.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Iowa Chapter).
