Marlys Irene Dehnke, born September 2, 1942, to Henry Frey and Stena (Groniga) Frey, joined her Heavenly Father July 16, 2024, she was 81 years old. Marlys was born in Wheaton, MN, her family later moved to Villard, MN where her family owned the restaurant. She graduated from Villard High School in 1960. She married Norman Bork on June 16, 1962, and they moved to Minneapolis where she worked for Catagator as a secretary. They were blessed with 2 children, Lori and “Todd”.
Marlys married David Dehnke on September 3, 1966, in Fall Creek WI. Marlys worked for her father’s bar for a few years before moving to Hartford, WI where David worked for Level Valley Creamery. They then moved to Alexandria, MN. Marlys took classes to be a Medical Secretary but went to work for her friends that owned the Homestead Inn. She was later employed at Donnley Custom Molding as a secretary/receptionist and then Juno Tool. She worked for Juno Tool for 34 years until her retirement.
In her younger years, Marlys enjoyed going on motorcycle trips (driving her own motorcycle) with her brother and friends and bowling. She loved to do crossword puzzles, play bingo, plastic canvas projects and going to casinos. You could find her almost every Saturday afternoon in her “favorite spot” at the VFW for bingo. She especially loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She tried to attend as many of her grandchildrens events as possible.
She will be dearly missed by those who called her Wife, Mom, Nana, Aunt or Friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Frey and sisters Esther Asborn and Louella “Toots” Streit; first husband Norman; parents-in-laws; and son-in-law Brad Schmidt.
Left to mourn for her are her husband David Dehnke; daughter Lori Schmidt of Alexandria, son “Todd” Bork (Monique) of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren Tiffani (David) Murray of Kensington, MN, Nick (Carrie) Schmidt of Morris, MN and Ian Bork; great grandchildren Ezra Murray, Harlow, Huxley and Henley Schmidt; sister-in-law Joyce Frey, neices and nephews.
