Survived by: Children: Craig Nelson - Fargo, ND. Keith (Karna) Nelson - North Oaks, MN. Carol (Carl) Wahlstrand - North Oaks, MN. Grandchildren: Kirk (Kacie), Kole, Kajsa, Rory, Reese. Great Grandchild: Nora.
Preceded in Death: Parents Cy and Esther Mattson - Warren, MN, Husband Clement A. Nelson.
Anyone who ever met Marlys instantly knew she loved her hometown, family, Gustavus, and her church. She shared her love of music with so many people both young and old thru directing and participating in many groups. She loved life to the fullest until the very end.
Evening visitation to be held Thursday 1/29/2026 from 4-7PM at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview chapel. 515 Hwy 96 W. Shoreview, MN 55126
Celebration of Live to be held Friday 1/30/2026 at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior at Incarnation Lutheran Church 4880 Hodgson Rd. Shoreview, MN 55126

Marlys was a dear WHS classmate of `53. She has been our class scribe, keeping us together through letter & computer updates for these 72 years. The angel choir has another lovely voice!

Marlys was such a nice neighbor in Heather Ridge Court. At Christmas she would share her toffee. When I was recovering from surgery she brought over a home made strawberry pie!
I saw her in church many Sundays singing in the choir. She always made me feel welcome and included. She will be missed.
