Marshall Joseph Eidinger
April 24, 1944 – December 11, 2025
Marshall Joseph Eidinger, 81, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. Born and raised in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Marshall lived a life full of love, dedication, curiosity, and adventure.
Marshall began his Jewish education at Hillel Academy, attending pre-school through sixth grade, and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in the January Class of 1962. Soon after, he embarked on what became a remarkable 60-year career as a proud member of IBEW Local 5 in Pittsburgh. As an electrician and electrical foreman, he played a key role in many major construction projects across the city he loved. Marshall was also a passionate union activist and an engaged member of the Democratic Party, always committed to fairness, dignity, and opportunity for working people. Marshall also volunteered as a loan officer for the IBEW Local 5 credit union for over 10 years.
Marshall served his country as a Navy veteran, working as a flight engineer on C-130 transport planes. Using his veteran benefits, he later fulfilled a personal dream and became a private pilot.
In 1968, Marshall married the love of his life, Linda Eckert, beginning a partnership that lasted 57 wonderful years. Together they raised two sons, Adam and David, whom he cherished deeply and admired as devoted fathers themselves. One of Marshall's greatest joys in later life was being a grandfather. He adored his two wonderful grandchildren, Arundhati and Eli, and was immensely proud of the people they are becoming. His love for them was boundless, and their time together brought him tremendous happiness.
Travel was one of Marshall's greatest passions. He and Linda explored the world together, taking 98 cruises over the years and, when he was able, unforgettable train journeys across Europe. Marshall delighted in planning every detail of their travels, while Linda planned the sights once they arrived-a beautiful collaboration and rhythm that was truly the fabric of their life together. They were partners in marriage, parenting, traveling and the joys of everyday life.
Twenty-two years ago, Marshall retired to
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he loved living by the beach and enjoying the warmth and beauty of the ocean.
Marshall is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, and their sons, Adam and David (Holly) Eidinger, two incredible grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews and many cousins. He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and adventure-one built on hard work, strong values, and an enduring devotion to his family.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 15, at 1:00 PM at Temple Sinai Memorial Park (7740 Saltsburg Road, Plum, Pennsylvania 15239).
Shiva will be observed at the home of David and Holly on Monday and Tuesday, beginning at 6:30 PM.
Marshall will be missed more than words can express and remembered always with love.
