Obituary published on Legacy.com by Deer Park Funeral Directors - Deer Park on Aug. 14, 2023.
Marshall Ray George, resident of
Pasadena, Texas, passed on the morning of August 10, 2023, at the age of 87.
Dad was born in Maydelle, Texas on July 15, 1936. He was the son of Everette and Nola (Bothwell) George. At the age of 19, he married our mom, Velma Joyce Bussey, on November 6, 1953, and they celebrated 63 years together before Mom passed on February 17, 2017. After getting married, they soon moved to
Pasadena, Texas where dad worked several jobs before hiring on with USI Chemical Co., where he continued working until the age of 70. Marshall grew up in a large and loving family home with three brothers (Morris, Dewey, Rodney) and five sisters (Louise, Dorris, Bobby Jean, Bernice, Mary Lois) whom he survived, as well as his granddaughter, Heather George.
If we as a family were to have a superhero in life, Dad would be that man, as he always looked out for family and friends. Dad was always willing to give the shirt off his back to make sure that our needs were always met, even if he had to go without. Dad's hobbies consisted of anything outdoors; he enjoyed football, where he excelled as a running back in high school, and he loved the mountains; if it had not been for his job, he may have moved the family to Colorado.
The song "That's My Job" by Conway Twitty, describes Dad's commitment to our family (lyrics: That's my job, That's what I do, Everything I do is because of you, To keep you safe with me, That's my job you see.") Thank you, Dad, for always being there for us and loving us. We will miss you and may you rest in peace.
Marshall is survived by his children: Johnny Dale George, Rocky Dale George and wife Carolyn, Danny Earl George and wife Kay, Sharon Lynn Hatfield and husband Brady, and Rex Lane George and wife Cheryl. Dad is also survived by his grandchildren: Jonathan George, Jacqueline Moreno (husband Humberto), Lindsey Wynn (husband Kevin), Dustin Hatfield (wife Elizabeth), Michelle Glennon (husband Sean), Tamara Raica (husband Nick), and Brittney George. Also survived by his great grandchildren: Joyce Ella George, Dominic and Julianna Moreno, Timothy, Jenna, Julia, Tessa and Jett Wynn, Lincoln, Lillian and Lucy Hatfield, Emma, Abby, and Miles Glennon.
The viewing and visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine,
Deer Park, Texas. Graveside service will be at Grand View Memorial Park Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Hwy,
Pasadena, Texas.
