Martha Carolyn Bading, age 82 of Geronimo, Texas, passed away on April 15, 2025. Carolyn was born on July 6, 1942 in Seguin, Texas to Etelka (Tschoepe) and Benno C. Heinemeyer.
Carolyn grew up in Geronimo on land which her grandfather, Wilhelm Heinemeyer farmed and had built a home and a store on the property. She was a 1960 graduate of Navarro High School. Additionally, she took classes at Texas Lutheran College and Durham Business College. On November 28, 1962 she married Edwin Bading and they remained in the Geronimo area for their entire lives. Carolyn worked alongside her husband in their businesses and lovingly raised their children, always being involved in their activities. As a family, they enjoyed traveling.
Carolyn was a gifted artist that shared her talents with the Friedens Church congregation each year by planning all of the art projects for the children attending Vacation Bible School. She will be remembered for the festive Thanksgiving decorations she created which graced the church. The children in the Sunday School classes cherished receiving the handmade ceramic ornaments she made of special nativity related designs.
As an avid gardener, she loved tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens. She was everyone's source of family genealogy details and was the keeper of so many precious family photos. As a lover of history, Carolyn authored a book on the Geronimo, Texas area.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Edwin Herman Bading, her daughter, Kay Denise Bading and infant daughter Cynthia Ann Bading, her parents, her brother, Ben Heinemeyer, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edith and Edwin Bading.
Survivors include her loving son, Nathan Bading; sister-in-law, Fran Heinemeyer; nephews, Roger Bading and wife Marlu and Russell Bading and wife Charla; many special cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at Friedens Church on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2 p.m. with the Reverends Sonja and Dave Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Lone Oak Cemetery.
