Martha A. Barton Brooks, lovingly known as “Nanny Tont,” age 70, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, December 27, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.
Martha was born on February 6, 1955, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to the late Monroe Odell Barton Sr. and Lena Mae Gaedchens Barton. She grew up in Biloxi where she attended school and graduated.
In her younger years, Martha enjoyed riding horses with her friends and carried that love for adventure throughout her life. She found joy in playing Pokeno, tending to her plants and flowers, going on sailboat cruises, and traveling on vacations with friends. Above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Odell Barton Sr. and Lena Mae Gaedchens Barton.
She is survived by her loving sons, Dustin Brooks and Cody Brooks; grandchildren, Maximus “Max” Brooks, Sheppard Brooks, and Averie Brooks; brothers, Dennis Barton and Monroe Odell Barton; and sisters, Rene Barton and Ruby Barton, who will all forever treasure her love and memory.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 10036, or to Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi.
