Martha Anne Williamson Bowles was promoted to the Church Triumphant on September 27, 2024. Martha passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Warner Robins, Georgia. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Camilla Williamson; brothers: Douglas E. Williamson, Louis W. Williamson, Sherman Williamson and Paul Williamson, Jr.; sister, Bobbie Jean Smith; and grandson, Spencer Watson Bowles. A visitation will be held, Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 1 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2 PM at Parkway Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Robbie Passmore will officiate.
Martha was born on June 2, 1938 in Atlanta, Georgia to a large and loving family. She graduated from Chamblee High School in 1956 and then went to work in various jobs around the Atlanta area. It was at one of these jobs, working at Peachtree Road Pharmacy, that she met her future husband, Charles Bowles. Martha and Charles were married on June 27, 1958 at University Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Georgia.
Charles and Martha soon welcomed their first son, Charles, Jr. and 2 years later their second son, Chris. In 1964, Martha and Charles moved their family to Centerville, Georgia where Charles opened Centerville Drugs. Martha went to work at Lindsey Elementary School in Warner Robins, Georgia. She later worked at Centerville Elementary School, Pearl Stephens Alternative School and the Houston County Board of Education home office in Perry, Georgia. Martha and Charles were also founding members of Centerville United Methodist Church where she served on many guiding church committees.
Martha maintained a loving, caring and happy home for her entire life. She enjoyed canning and preserving fresh food for her family and was an avid cook and homemaker. She loved gardening and maintaining a vibrant yard. During the time in which her sons were younger, Martha served as a team mother, assisted with Vacation Bible School and Sunday School and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles S. Bowles, Sr. of Warner Robins, Georgia; her two sons, Charles S. Bowles, Jr. of Bainbridge, Georgia and Chris Bowles of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Lauren T. Bowles Reagan (Kyle) of Cairo, Georgia, Anna E. Bowles of Thomasville, Georgia and Charles Bowles, III of Bainbridge, Georgia; and a great granddaughter, Reed C. Reagan of Cairo, Georgia.

My sincere condolences to the family of Martha Bowles. To Simp, Charles and Chris you were blessed to have shared your lives with Martha. May you cherish all the fond memories that you have of Martha as a wife and as a mother and as your friend! She was always accepting of, and kind and thoughtful to me as were you also Simp. I hope it is ok to call you Simp (Simpson) for that is my fond rememberance of you before you became Charles. I have thought of all of you often through the years as you are my dear cousins and family. Sorry that we lost contact and have not visited with one another for many years. God bless you and may He continue to watch over you and give you His grace and peace through His son the Lord Jesus Christ! Know that you are loved and cared for......charles McElroy
