Martha Deschner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – MacDonald Chapel - Howell on Apr. 4, 2025.
Martha Jane Deschner passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at the age of 87 in Brighton, MI. She was born on February 9, 1938, in Detroit, MI, the cherished daughter of William Edward and Martha Elizabeth (Burkhart) Bolam. In 1963, she married Anton "Tony" Deschner, in her hometown of Detroit.
Martha's zest for life did not wane with the seasons. She was proud to call Wormer Lake in Michigan her home, where she reveled in winter activities such as snow skiing and snowmobiling. Her love for the outdoors and competitive spirit was also evident in her enthusiasm for golfing and bowling, activities she started to enjoy after moving to a warmer climate. She found adventure in moving, and settled down in Venice, Florida for some years. It was there that she met her loving partner, Lynn, with whom she shared 15 delightful years. Together, they explored the breadth of the United States, traveling in his motorhome and creating countless memories. In 2000, Martha embarked on a new chapter, moving to Las Vegas at the age of 62. Martha's adventurous soul found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from the thrill of casinos, where she played her favorite games, Deuces Wild and Caveman Keno, to the companionship of her beloved cat, Fluffy, who was by her side for 18 years.
Martha's professional life was characterized by her role as a dedicated executive secretary, a position that allowed her to demonstrate her organizational skills and attention to detail. She brought the same level of commitment to her personal pursuits, serving as the secretary of a bowling league and engaging wholeheartedly in her community.
Those who knew Martha will remember her as loving and adventurous, a woman who approached every day with a smile and an eagerness to embrace whatever adventures lay ahead. Her legacy is carried on by her adoring nieces and nephews, Robert (Pamela) Bolam, Cindy (Gary) Holmes, Michael (Susan) Bolam, Karen (Mark) Crosby, Robert (Diana) Allen, and Janene (David) Manning, as well as by her many great-nieces and nephews, and other loving family members.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony Deschner; her parents, William and Martha Bolam; her siblings, Jerry Bolam, Gertrude "Annie" Zumbroegel, Lois Allen, Sanford Bolam, Robert Bolam, Byron Bolam, and Paul Daniel Bolam; and her cherished partner, Lynn.
Martha will be laid to rest at White Chapel Cemetery Memorial Park in Troy at 12PM on Monday, April 7, 2025.
