Martha Catherine Heavner, age 85 of Holly Avenue, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday evening, August 15, 2023 at Potomac Valley WVU Hospital in Keyser, WV. Born on October 13, 1937, in Moorefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late John Cleal Raymond Wratchford, Sr. and Effie Lee Mayhew Wratchford. Her husband, Lysle Overton Heavner preceded her in death in September 2001. Two grandson, Brian Wratchford and Connor Paugh, a step-son, Steve Heavner, a brother, Benny Wratchford and two sisters, Edna Sutton and Alice Riggleman also preceded her in death.
Martha was a child-care provider in her own home for many years, caring for so many children over the years including her daughter Tammy.
Surviving are two sons, Donnie Wratchford of Timberville, VA and Michael Wratchford of Moorefield, WV; two daughters, Christa Paugh and Tammy Heavner of Moorefield, WV; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillie Cassell, Becky Alt & Damie Carr all of Moorefield, WV; and three brothers, Raymond Wratchford, Jr., Tommy Wratchford & Frank Wratchford all of Moorefield, WV.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Russell Webster officiant. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
