Martha Marie Lippincott, known affectionately to many as Marie or Granny, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Canton, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on August 24, 1935, in Bryson, Texas to Elmer A. Cook and Martha Ann Ainsworth, Marie was a beacon of love and kindness whose radiant spirit touched everyone she encountered.

Throughout her life, Marie was characterized by her caring and loving nature. She was beautiful inside and out, often seen crafting, scrapbooking, or working on crossword puzzles—activities that brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity. Marie also cherished traveling and had the extraordinary privilege of visiting every single state in the United States. Marie’s proudest accomplishments were her family, her kids and grandkids, whom she loved unconditionally. In her role as Granny, she embodied warmth and affection.

Marie is survived by her children, Freddy Allen Shepard and Charlotte; grandchildren, Julie Shepard, Christy (Cricket) and Heath Schuessler, Morgan Hargrove and Justin, Shaun Shepard, Hannah Swiney and Mason; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rex Gayle Lippincott; parents, Elmer A. Cook, Martha Ann Ainsworth; son, Mike Shepard; siblings, Etta Mae Fields, Zella Fields, Ruby Helms, Zena Cook, Virgil Cook, Vera Williams, Betty Hatley, Gilbert Cook, James Cook and Dewey Cook.

Though the world has lost a remarkable soul, Marie 's impact will forever resonate in the lives she has changed and the love she freely gave. She will be dearly missed but cherished in memory as Granny—a name that epitomizes the devotion and affection she offered throughout her life.
