Martha Cooley Martin

Martha Cooley Martin, 92, of Laurens, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Martha was preceded in death by Dwight Nelson Martin, her loving husband and best friend of over 60 years. Her family rejoices in knowing they are reunited in Heaven. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William Furman Cooley and Lizzie Mae Collins Cooley.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Kaye Mahon Akin, and her son Wayne Martin; grandchildren, Lindley Mahon, Brandon Mahon (Haley), Lianna Mahon (Casey) and Nathan Mahon (Hailey). She was blessed with great grandchildren, Rylan Mahon Ramirez, Pierce Nelson Kelley, Samuel Evans Mahon, and Asher Joe Kelley. Martha loved her grandchildren dearly and had a special way of making each one feel deeply loved.

She was a long-time member of St. James United Methodist Church in Laurens, SC. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day with kindness, love, and devotion to others. Martha enjoyed attending church services and being involved in her community. She spoke fondly of her walking group and cherished her lunch dates with friends, especially their trips to Waffle House. A very special lady, Martha will be missed greatly by all who had the honor of knowing her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
