Martha A. Morris, 71, of Schenectady, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at St. Peter’s Hospital after a 3-month battle with illness.

Born in Nassau County on July 4, 1953, she was the daughter to the late Abraham and Ellie (Theilen) Posnick.

Martha was a 1971 graduate of Elmont Memorial High School and 1975 graduate of the University at Albany where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Throughout her career, Martha worked for several employers. She and her husband met while working together at Hospital Association of NYS. She also worked for The Printing Company and the Niskayuna School District. Since 2013, Martha worked for the Schenectady City School District’s Superintendent’s office. She served as the School Board Clerk, a role she carried out with great pride. Martha also spent countless hours through the years working in many capacities in support of her husband’s downtown Schenectady printing business, "Books and Pieces".

She was a devoted mother to her son, George, including serving as manager of his Rotterdam Little League teams. They maintained a strong bond, which often involved sports, taking trips to tennis tournaments across the U.S. and Canada, watching the New York Jets, and enjoying summer days at the Saratoga racetrack. Despite her allergies, Martha was also a proud cat mom, especially to her calico Casey, who she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by her husband, George Franklin Morris, and her brother, Alan Posnick.

Martha is survived by her son, George Abraham Morris; her sister, Linda Liebing; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
