Martha May Sherer Ott, age 82, passed away, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ragersville on May 4, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Wilson and Evelyn Irene (McCoun) Toland.
After completing her formal education at Baltic High School is 1958, she married her late husband, Floyd Sherer on June 15, 1958, whom preceded her in passing on April 10, 2003. Together, they were blessed with the birth of their four children, Debra, Daniel, Julia, and Michael.
Martha worked as a medical assistant for Drs. Torrent and M. Patel throughout her professional career.
Martha was united in marriage with her husband, Dennis Ott, on May 1, 2010.
Martha's faith journey began at the age of 14 when she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She nurtured her faith at Fiat Church and Jerusalem Church. She taught Sunday School, and was a participant and volunteer at many other church and local activities.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Martha loved the outdoors, gardening, and crafting.
Martha's family includes her husband, Dennis; children, Debra (Jay) Cheslock, Daniel (Lucretia) Sherer, Julia Espenschied, and Michael (Tammy) Sherer; step-children, Denise (Larry) Shelter, Douglas Ott, Mary (Loren) Prysi; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, her family included her siblings, Betty (Jim) Burger, Ruby Stress, Ann Levengood, Eileen Syler, Maggie Mizer, and Warren Toland.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Martha was preceded in passing by her granddaughter, Amanda Milburn; great-grandson, Grayson James Espenschied; great-granddaughter Avery Hiller; brother, Clyde Toland; daughter-in-law, Lori Sherer; and step-daughter-in-law, Debra Ott.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Home at Dover on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. A service celebrating Martha's life will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
Memorial contributions in Martha's memory made be directed to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Rd, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
