Martha L. Perkins
April 7, 1944 - January 10, 2026
Martha Liza "Louise" Perkins, age 81, of Rockport, Texas, peacefully gained her wings on Saturday, January 10, 2026. She was born on April 7, 1944, in Saco, Alabama, to the late John Frank and Tommy Gertrude Johnson. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Preston Napoleon Perkins, and her brothers, Charlie Frank Johnson, and James Walter Johnson.
Martha met Preston in Rockport and later followed him to Denver, Colorado, where they married and began their family. Three of their children were born in Denver before they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where they welcomed their fourth child. Eventually, they returned to Rockport to live out their days together.
Martha devoted more than 20 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working alongside her sister, Millie Jean Mack, and caring for others with compassion and grace. She was also a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children Carla Perkins of San Antonio, Cassandra Perkins of Rockport, Huston John Perkins (LaNita) of Bryan/College Station, and Rachel Perkins of San Antonio. Her memory will forever be treasured by her grandchildren Antoine Herron (Jasmine) of Dallas, Daniel Jackson of Bryan/College Station, and Aleycia Lupasky (David) of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Martha was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Jalen, Eliana, and Tobias Herron. She leaves behind her loving siblings, Millie Jean Mack, Lizzie Simmons, and Lamon Johnson.
Affectionately known as "Whizzy," Martha touched countless lives with her kindness and strength. She was an avid gardener, and her love for nature was evident in the beauty of her many homes. Her legacy of love and care will live on in all who knew her.
Light refreshments will be served during the viewing on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home and Crematory in Rockport, Texas. The funeral service will immediately follow the viewing.
