Martha Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moores Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 19, 2026.
Martha Ann Scott, 81, of Milledgeville passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Martha was born in Rhine, GA but made her home in Milledgeville. She was a retired employee of Piggly Wiggly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wayne Scott, her mother Jimmie Lou Burnam and her father John K. Sanford.

She is survived by her brother Jack Sanford of Milledgeville, and four children: Carol Holt (Randy) of Avera, GA, Sheryl Harrison (Tommy) of Milledgeville, Paige Yates (Allen) of Macon, Forrest Scott (Lona) of Aiken, SC, and her second son David Brookins (Lisa). She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found great joy in her family and in caring for others. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Danielle, Ashley, Erica, Ben, Jamie, Daniel, Amber, Jesica, Dustin, Lacy and Cole, and 16 great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

She enjoyed spending her time gardening, quilting, and crocheting, often creating beautiful handmade pieces for those she loved. Her home was always warm and welcoming, and she was known for feeding anyone who came through her door. No one ever left her house hungry, and her kindness and generosity made everyone feel like family.

Her life was a testament to love, hard work, and devotion to the people around her, and she will be remembered for the comfort, warmth, and care she shared so freely.

A Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22nd at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Pastor Karen Harrison officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
