Martha Susan Smith, 81, died Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at her home in Shelbyville. She had worked as the office manager at Wade Hembree's State Farm office for 22 years. She was a member of the Simpsonville Baptist Church. Martha had a servant's heart and was always willing to volunteer for what needed to be done-including teaching the elderly. She really enjoyed the Legacy Class at Southeast Christian Church. She was a dog lover. Mostly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Palmer Smith and Pauline Menefee Leaver; and her brother, James Smith. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Melvin Roy Smith of Shelbyville; her daughter, Debra Miller (Kevin) of Shelbyville; her son, David Kenneth England (Angie) of Fayetteville, TN; her sister, Joyce Nay (Benjamin) of Shelbyville; her brothers, Larry Smith (Sharon) of Louisville and Steve Smith of Louisville; her grandchildren, Joshua England (Stephanie) of Fayetteville, TN, Stephanie Gordon (Tommy) of Fayetteville, TN, Caleb England (Susan) of Ardmore, AL, Deborah England of Fayetteville, TN, Jessica Blair (Nelson) of Huntsville, AL, Tiffany Thomas (Corey) of Georgetown, Cameron Aldridge of Cincinnati, OH, Zach Miller (Lana) of Shelbyville, Dylan Miller (Kayla) of Shelbyville, Kayley Miller of Shelbyville; her great grandchildren, Noah England, Rachel England, Laura Kate Gordon, Asher Gordon, Sadie England, Lincoln England, Rhett England, Cooper Blair, Mallory Kate Thomas, Cooper Drake Thomas, Parker Cade Thomas, Dean Miller, Christopher Miller, and Bennett Miller.

Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Shannon Funeral Home with Pastor David England officiating. Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Simpsonville Baptist Church or Southeast Christian Church-Shelbyville Campus.
