Born on April 1, 1929, in Steubenville, Ohio, Martha was married to Frederick "Sonny" Stockhausen for 70 years. Together they built a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick and their sons Frederick, John, Stephen, and Charles.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Jane Nelson (Bruce); her sons Edward (Nancy), Peter (Judith), Neal (Wendy), Paul, and Kevin; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A gifted embroiderer, she shared her talents through her involvement with the Biscayne chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild. She was also an active member of the Historical Society and a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Little Flower.
A gathering will be held Thursday, November 13, from 7–9 p.m. at Van Orsdel Funeral Home, Coral Gables. A Funeral Mass will follow Friday, November 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Little Flower, with inurnment at Woodlawn Park South.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Little Flower or to Christopher Columbus High School in her memory.

Martha was a truly wonderful person. I knew her both through Christopher Columbus high, where 3 sons attended and through the Villagers, where she was always contributing to our quilt raffle. She was always warm and engaging. Martha will be missed.

The countless hours she dedicated to doing these along with the individualized Christmas ornaments were such a blessing to our family

Martha was a good friend of my mom, and she used to come over to our house on North Greenway regularly for the women's monthly book club meeting. I would run into her at church all the time. What a great person.
