Obituary of Martha Ellen Thurman Wright
Martha Ellen Thurman Wright, 90, of Versailles, Kentucky, died peacefully at home, January 15, 2024. She was born in Woodford County, Kentucky on December 11, 1933. She was an avid gardener, loved to sew and read, and had an open mind and open heart. She was a member of Sanders Baptist Church and, most recently, attended Berea Friends Meeting. She was a member of the Ann Rogers Clark Chapter of the D.A.R.
She is survived by her children, Joe D. Wright of Sanders, Ky, Patricia Wright Sodeifi (Ali) of Burke, Virginia, Suzanne Wright Crain (Glynn) of Versailles, Ky and Darrell Wright (Debbie) of Sanders, Ky and a sister, Margaret Jones of Versailles, Ky. Grandchildren, Maryam Sodeifi (Jason), Roya Sodeifi, Matthew Wright (Naomi), Megan Wright Pence (Jeremy), Mollie Wright Shirley (Ryan), Jennifer Crain Trinidad, Jeffrey Crain, and Allison Crain Chatzimichalis (Manolis). She has 12 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace E. Thurman and Lillie Harlow Thurman, her former husband, Joe. C. Wright, three siblings, Madeline Woolums, Lorene Iacano, and Sonny Thurman, and four nephews, Ray Woolums, George Solock, Mike Solock and Wayne Woolums.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 11am-1pm, service to follow at 1pm, at Clark Legacy Center - Frankfort. 3000 Versailles Rd, Frankfort. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice) or Sanders Baptist Church.
