Martha Grace Slack Williams, 101, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 2, 2025, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Born on September 25, 1923, in Baker, Louisiana, to Ohmer and Bessie Slack. Martha lived a life that was a beautiful testament to her deep faith, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for others.
A lifelong and faithful member the Presbyterian faith and of Baker Presbyterian Church, Martha's days were marked by serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and Assistant Treasurer for many years. She graduated from Istrouma High School, attended LSU and retired from the LA State Department of Health and Human Services.
Martha's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two devoted sons, Dr. Robert E. "Bobby" Williams (Kakie) and Clarence Eugene "Gene" Williams; loving daughter, Barbara Williams Button; adoring grandchildren, Stephen Williams (Sandi), Brian Williams, Patrick Williams, Jennifer Williams Buckley (Rob), Tracy Button Arnold (Brad), Chris Button (Carrie), Drew Button, Sr. (Tara), and Cory Williams (Aimee); precious great-grandchildren, Ryan W., Samantha, Kayla, Emily Grace, Andrew, Jr. (Maddie), Colin, Abby, Claire, Lucas W., Ryan A., Holly (Micah), Ashleigh (Adam), Lillee, and Landree; great great-grandchildren, Lucas P. and Adeline; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ohmer E. Slack and Bessie Brannigan Slack; daughter, Rita Logan; granddaughter, Kimberly Logan Drell; her beloved son-in-law, George D. Button; brothers, Clarence Slack (Myrtle) and Norman Slack (Marion); and sisters, Rita Lindsey (Terry), Alice Croak (Jerry), Margaret Gamotis (Roland), and Laura Curry (John).
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Button, Drew Button, Brian Williams, Cory Williams, Colin Button, Andrew Button, Stephen Williams, Patrick Williams, Ryan Williams, Brad Arnold, each honored to carry her to her place of rest.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 9, 2925, from 10:00 AM until the Christian Services at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Anne Cramer. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Baker, Louisiana.
