Martin E. Bundschu

October 18, 1941 – November 8, 2025

Martin E. Bundschu, 84, quietly passed away on November 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Tennessee, Martin graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Notre Dame High School, and the University of Tennessee. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War. Professionally, Martin built a long and respected career as Purchasing Director for both Krystal and ARCOP.

Martin was an avid fan of NASCAR, golf, and the Tennessee Volunteers, but his greatest joy in life came from being "Papaw" and cheering on his grandson Jacob at the baseball field.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. (Billy) Jr. and Dorothy Bundschu; sister Emelie Guess; brothers-in-law Leon Gauverau and Frantz Guess; and nephew Bryan Gauverau.

Martin is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth; son, Michael; daughter-in-love, Amy; and beloved grandson, Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings Karen Gauverau (Pat Christnacht), Mary (Tony) Crain, and David (Janice) Bundschu; nieces and nephews Danny (Brande) Guess, Dena (David) Swink, Kristine Urea (Michael) VanOverbergh, and Erika (Jason) McBrayer; along with many great-nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Martin will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Educational Society 4155 Randolph Cir, Chattanooga, TN 37406.

Martin will be remembered for his strength, humor, and the love and laughter he shared with all who knew him.
