Martin McAndrews Obituary Martin T. "Marty" McAndrews
Marty McAndrews passed away on March 2, 2025 at Fair Acres Geriatric Facility, Lima, PA., with his brother Bob by his side.
Born on June 11, 1942, Marty was the second child of Richard J McAndrews, Sr. and Elizabeth Lauer McAndrews.
Born and raised in SW Philadelphia, Marty attended Good Shepherd school and West Catholic High School, where he was a member of the Class of 1959.
Marty was a multi-talented man. As a teenager he was the local YoYo champion, an excellent swimmer, and a nice basketball player. He was a self taught accordion player; the walls of many homes were adorned with sketches or portraits drawn by Marty. He carried that skill well into his later years. During the 1970s and 80s, he even drew air brushed portraits on cakes.
In his senior years, Marty was a fixture on his bench outside of Deals in Media. He was distinguished by his dapper attire.
Marty was one of 10 children: The late Rev Richard, Joseph (Dorothea), Edward (Grace), George (the late Marian), James (the late Helen), Elizabeth Glavin (Denis), John (Antoinette), Robert (Anne), and Patrick. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave., Springfield, PA. Visitation will commence at 10:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Twp, PA.
