We met Marty in October 2022 at a Cardinals playoff game. We were supposed to be in Florida but a hurricane hit so we pivoted to watching a playoff game in St. Louis.
As luck would have it, our last minute seats were next to Cardinals Marty. And from the minute we sat down, a friendship like no other blossomed between Marty and Jaryd (who was ten at the time).
Marty was treasured in my family, always bringing a smile to his buddy. They discussed playoffs, opening day, special games, football, basketball, college games, interviews, Rachels wedding and then Haze. Marty never missed a holiday, birthday, or milestone and even today, he is sending gifts ahead of a birthday. He was the best and the ultimate gift!
Karin and Rachel, there is a special star for him. May his memory be a blessing to all who were lucky enough to meet Marty.

Marty you will be missed so much. I loved your contagious smile, your kindness, and all the free pizza coupons you left on the kitchen counter for us when we cleaned your home. Thank you for being a blessing to us and our families. Love and prayers to Karin and family. Love Melissa

The Cardinals & Missouri State have just lost a true, dedicated, caring, & loyal fan & person. A true Champion of the sports world. For years we sat in the same section at Busch II & I got to see first hand the 1st sign & the ones that followed. Marty's smile was contagious and he was one of the most kind, generous persons I've ever met. When I asked him if he would sponsor a teacher event for my Newspapers in Education (NIE) Program, he discussed it with Art, and made it happen. I will forever be grateful to Marty for his friendship. My prayers & thoughts to Karin, Rachel, & the entire Prather family. May his memory be a blessing now & forever!

I was so devastated to hear of Marty´s passing. He was a wonderful person and a great conversationalist. He always treated me with kindness, and he will be missed. My condolence to his wife and daughter, who he loved dearly.

I meet Marty in 1982 and a great friendship was formed, from Cardinal games to cheering on the Bears. In the 90´s we went to a Cardinals Autograph Convention to see 5 Cardinal Hall of Famers. We get to the front of line so he could get his items signed. Bob Gibson said, "hi Marty". He was a Busch Stadium Legend. Springfield Legend. One of a kind.

The day I met Marty Prather, I didn´t know how fortunate I was. He´s a true friend. Whenever I thought of Marty, he brought a smile to my life. That will still continue.
God bless the Prather Family.
