Marttie Deane Howard

Marttie Deane Howard was born on Aug. 25, 1964, in Waxahachie, TX, to Joseph Marttie "J.M." and Dorothy Allen Howard.

She was raised in Waxahachie and was a member of the Waxahachie class of 1982. During her time in high school, she was very active in the FFA and brought home many ribbons for her show rabbits. She later attended Rose State College and Mid-Del Technology Center, graduating with an Associate's Degree.

Marttie was a creator, at heart. She loved to make wreaths and other craft items to share with her friends. She loved to make the world beautiful by keeping her flower garden bright and colorful.

Marttie was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Oallen Wayne "O.W." Howard in 1998; her sister, Laverne Howard Wyatt, in 2020; and her nephews, Eddie Neal Wyatt in 2018 and Cody Matthew Howard in 2025, as well as other family and friends.

She is survived by her sons Joshua Allen Howard and Aaron Jeffrey Howard, and his wife, Brittany, both of Texas, and her daughter, Christina Hammontree of Oklahoma. Her brothers, J.D. Howard (Carol) and Monte Howard (Karen), both of Mississippi, as well as her sister Pat Howard Wilsford of Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Riley Howard of Oklahoma and Zane, Sadie, Austin, Sawyer, and Dawson of Texas. Also surviving are her numerous nieces and nephews, including Richard Hill, Sharon Howard Rexrode, Darrell McNeal, Davi Bryce, Micki Howard, Wendy Howard Hicks, all of Waxahachie, and her extended family and friends.

A private family memorial will be held later.

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there.

I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on the snow.

I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there.

I did not die.
