Martin Allen Seymour was born to Peter Loren and Jacqueline Violet (Oberly) Seymour on October 13, 1968 in Chicago, IL and departed this life in Lawton, OK on July 30, 2024 at the age of 55 years, 9 months and 17 days.

Coming from Chicago around age 2, Marty grew up in Walters, OK, graduating in 1986. He then attended OU, and Bacone before heading to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Marty then moved to Oklahoma City and went to work for his uncle at Frank Oberly CPA for several years before returning home to help care for his parents. He later moved to California for 3 years doing accounting and audits for the Manzanita Band of Mission Indians. He returned home and did accounting for the Comanche and Kiowa Casinos followed by employment with the Comanche Nation Tax Commission. He has worked for KZ’s Drive Thru in Walters for the past year.

Marty was a member of the Comanche Nation and was proud of his American Indian Ancestry that included several tribes that are evidenced by the Seymour and Oberly families. His native heritage comes by way of his grandfather, Ernest Seymour of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi, his grandmother, Angeline Seymour of the Chippewa Tribe, his grandfather, Acey Oberly of the Osage Tribe and grandmother, Eva Oberly of the Comanche Nation.

Marty’s athleticism and competitive nature was evident from an early age with summer league baseball and continued to shine throughout his high school years in football, basketball, baseball and track, making state in the shotput for four years straight. He also excelled in academics and was brilliant in math. Marty was the Vice-President of the WHS Class of 1986 and was voted Best All Around, Most Athletic, Most Enthusiastic, and was named Basketball King. As an adult he continued his love for competitive sports and stayed active through Hoopla and other basketball leagues, playing golf, mud volleyball, slow pitch softball and tennis. He also enjoyed playing cards, cookouts and hanging with friends. He was an avid OU fan and a big Steelers fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jackie (Oberly) Seymour.

Survivors include his brother, Jay Seymour of Walters; 5 aunts and uncles, Sara Oberly Shields of Stillwater, OK, Gary Oberly of Norman, OK, Marty Oberly of Mustang, OK, Margaret Oberly Kelly of Fort Gibson, OK, and Frank Oberly of Norman; and his close friends who were like brothers.
