Marvin Barb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Winchester on Oct. 10, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Marvin Lee Barb, 82, of Winchester, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Hospice of the Panhandle.
Marvin was born June 16, 1943 in Woodstock, VA, a son of the late James and Margaret Barb. He was raised in Edinburg and then moved to Frederick County.
He married Louwana Grubb October 26, 1968. Marvin worked for National Fruit, and retired after more the 30 years of service. He often talked about not having much of an education, but back in the day he had the skill for operating light and heavy duty equipment and trucks that most folks could only wish for. Later, being bored with retirement, he worked for the Solenberger family mowing orchards along with his brother Billy.
He is a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and was an usher for over 30 years. In his younger years, you could find him playing for the church's softball team as well as coaching baseball to local youth.
Marvin enjoyed spending weekdays at Senior's First located in Jim Barnett Park and weekends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 824, where he was a proud member. When he was home, you could find him sitting outside enjoying good weather days with company of neighbors and friends that would stop by and chat for a while, including monthly visits and communion from pastor Frank Sherman.
He is survived by his sons, Craig L. Barb (wife Patricia) whom he lived with, David B. Barb (wife Melissa); grandchildren, Derek L. Barb, Trenton A. Barb, Tanner W. Barb, Addison L. Barb; half-sisters, Bessie Link, Sarah Burkley; nephew, Billy Garrison Barb Jr.; brother in law, Douglas L. Grubb (wife Suzanne); nieces, Jennifer O'Neill (husband Leon), Michelle L. Triggs (Fiancé Timothy Metz Jr.); and great nieces, Madeline O'Neill and Elizabeth Triggs.
Along with his loving wife, Louwana, Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Barb; and half-sister, Robin Salamone.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home at 11:00 am with pastor Jason Duley officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in to Marvin's name to Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road Winchester, VA 22601 or to The Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
