Marvin Elmore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McFarland Funeral Companies - Monroe on Dec. 17, 2022.
On January 6, 1967, God gave the gift of life to Marvin Vandell Elmore "Big Poppa," born to the proud parents of Lamar Ford and Vernell Elmore.
For fifty-five years he lived a beautiful life. On December 15, 2022, at 11:43 AM at Minden Medical Center, Minden, Louisiana. He received his heavenly wings.
He united with the Young's Chapel CME Church at a very early age. He often spoke about attending sunday school and church with his godmother, Sister Rosa Taylor.
Marvin loved his family, and he was a joy to be around – talking loud, being funny, and he loved to eat and talk noise.
Twenty-nine years ago he met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Patricia Brown Elmore. She faithfully remained by his side until the end.
Before his accident he was a hard worker who provided for his family. His love was driving 18-wheelers. He, along with his wife, owned and operated Elmore Trucking and Logging where they employed people from Calhoun and surrounding areas. In his spare time he operated Club 151 in Calhoun, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Ford; mother and stepfather, Vernell Elmore Harrison and Larry Harrison; one son, Christopher Moss; two brothers, Terry and James Elmore; and two sisters, Margaret Ford and Carrie Ford.
He leaves to cherish his memories: the love of his life, Mrs. Patricia Elmore; two daughters, Atty Breshatta Davis and Mechela Davis of Monroe, Louisiana; three sons, Marcus Staten and D'Tallion Dade of Dallas, Texas, and Lt. Commander Darius Staten (Kelle) of Washington, DC; two stepdaughters, Tonya Brown of Monroe, Louisiana, and Stephanie Brantley of Ruston, Louisiana; four brothers, Michael Charles Jackson (Linda) of Atlanta, Georgia, Terrell Jackson (Krystal) of Bastrop, Louisiana, Tony Jackson (Charlene), and Michael Elmore (Ly'Detra) of Monroe, Louisiana; six sisters, ReShunda Anding, DeWonda Corprue of West Monroe, Louisiana, Debra Jackson of Monroe, Louisiana, Diana Ford and Evonne Ford of Seattle, Washington, and Everly Bowie of Calhoun, Louisiana; a special friend, Thurston Young; and a host of grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
