Marvin A. English Jr, 82, of 327 Poole Circle Newfield, passed away Saturday December 6th, 2025 at Hospicare in Ithaca NY. Marvin was born November 6, 1943 in Ithaca, a son of Marvin Sr. and Alta (Batsford) English, married to Kathleen (Thomas) in 1964 before her passing in 1992.
Marvin was well known for his role of playing Santa at NCR, Ithaca Mall, the VFW of Ithaca located on State St., and even helping ring the donation bell for the Salvation Army spanning over a decade. Marvin was in the Armed Forces and served during Vietnam. He is survived by his children Marvin III (Leone) English of Trumansburg, Lisa (John) Barker of Freeville, Paul (Brittany VanAmburg) Stillman of Ovid and his great grandchildren Carter VanAmburg, Ava VanAmburg and Declan VanAmburg of Ovid; his sister Janice Spaulding of Newfield. Marvin was predeceased by his parents Marvin Sr. and Alta (Batsford) English; wife Kathleen (Thomas) English; sister Carrie (English) Cornell.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca NY 14850 or the VFW of Ithaca 423 W. State St, Ithaca NY 14850
