Marvin J. "Butch" Gossen

Marvin J. Gossen (Butch), age 82, of Neenah, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 29, 2025. He was born June 21, 1943, in Neenah, WI, son of the late Marvin M. and Gladys (Jorgenson) Gossen. Marvin married Barbara Williamsen on September 17, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton, WI. He was employed at Bergstrom/ Glatfelter paper of Neenah for 36 years as a mill rat, until his retirement in September of 2204. Marv enjoyed coaching his daughter, Sara's summer softball league in Neenah for 13 years, golf, wood carving, kayaking, biking, Segwaying, volunteering for the Fox Valley habitat and Restore, assisting with hurricane relief efforts in Biloxi, Mississippi, walking through the wild prairie that he and his lovely wife, Barb, spent many years working, walking, and watching all the birds, butterflies, and animals enjoying their labors of love.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Williamsen), a daughter Sue Ann (Edward) Broeren; his grandchildren Aliya Sara, Jeremy Edward, and Elijah John Broenen; brother Robert Gossen; sisters: Dee Spiegel, Joan Collins, and Beverly (Tom) Eisch; sister-in-law: Lori Gossen.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful seventeen-year-old daughter, Sara Marie, in 1988; parents, Marvin & Gladys Gossen; brother Donald Gossen; sisters-in-law: Gin Gossen and Joan Williamsen; brothers-in-law: Harlin Spiegel and Charles Collins.

A funeral service will be held Friday December 5, 2025 at 11:00 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 809 S Commercial St, Neenah, WI 54956. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marvin's name to the Fox Valley Memory Project, Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, and the Larsen Lions Club.

"My dad has gone home. My heart breaks, yet I am happy for him and kind of envious. No more suffering or pain. He gets to meet our Lord and Savior. He gets to see my sister Sara again. He was the definition of a good man. He worked hard for his family and made sure we were always taken care of. Something he always said whenever I saw him was "do you need anything". Every. Single. Time. He would be the guy out in the winer, plowing out the neighbors. He was always generous, giving, and wanting to help. The world needs more men like him. They are becoming few. He loved my mother well. They were such a cute little couple, together since a dance in 1962. She took great care of him, by his side till the end. I was blessed to have good parents. Anyone they knew were blessed to know them. There were multiple times I had heard, "Marv Gossen is your dad? He's so great!" He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and silly sense of humor, and his famous line, "I'm so bright, my mother calls me son." -Sue (Gossen) Broeren
