JANESVILLE----- Marvin G. Hauser, age 86, of Janesville, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Winchester, England on April 16, 1924, the son of Ervin and Winifred (Baber) Hauser. The family moved to the United States in 1925, and Marv graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942. He served in the US Navy from Sept. 1942- Feb. 1946 as a Pharmacist’s mate. Upon discharge from the armed forces, he returned to school and graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1950, and received his Masters degree from UW-Madison in 1952. He married Ruth Erdman on June 8, 1948, at St. John the Baptist Church, Jefferson. Marvin was a Business Education Teacher in Watertown, Whitewater and for 33 years at Janesville Craig High School. He retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janesville where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Janesville Jaycees, Janesville Education Association, Wisconsin Education Association, Past President of the Wisconsin Business Education Association, BPOE Elks #254, the Blackhawk Golden K Kiwanis Club of which he was a past president received the Hixson award, and a director of the Janesville Education Credit Union. Marvin enjoyed traveling and sports such as golf, baseball, and biking. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth; 2 sons, Greg (Janet) Hauser of Greensboro, NC, and Dan (Marilyn) Hauser of Rochester, MI; 5 grandchildren: Sarah, Scott, Daniel, David, and Michael Hauser; a brother, Joseph (Helen) Hauser of Jefferson; 3 sisters: Winnie Mistele, Gwennie Stoppenbach, and Mary (Jack) Bayreuther all of Jefferson; brother and sisters-in-law: Marion Wong of Beloit, Marjorie Bostwick of Mt. Vernon, IA, and Vern (Ruth) Erdman of Fort Atkinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Hattie and Louis Erdman; brothers-in-law: Bill Stoppenbach and Bob Mistele, William (Leona) Erdman, Art (Barbara) Erdman, Richard Erdman, Tom Bostwick, and Gim Wong. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Monday (tonight) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville. Memorials may be made to Camp Wawbeek, a camp to help disabled children and adults. One of his greatest joys was teaching students, and his greatest love was sharing time with his family.
