Marvin Lee Jester

JESTER, Marvin Lee, widower of the late Phyllis Ritchie Jester, died quietly in his sleep Monday, May 26, 2008, just two days before his 86th birthday. He was the youngest son of John Thomas Jester and Laura May Griggs of Varina. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Jester Ford; her husband, Henry E. Ford; and his granddaughter, Brooke Jennings Ford, all of Richmond. Marvin served in the Pacific during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington, in the Atlantic aboard a subchaser, and in Sasebo, Japan, during the occupation in 1946. He retired from the City of Richmond in 1986 after 39 years of service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.
