Marvin Marbles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McFarland Funeral Companies - Monroe on Apr. 25, 2024.
Marvin Marbles was born on Tuesday, June 20, 1950, in Battlecreek, Michigan. After birth, Marvin then came to West Monroe, Louisiana, to live with his grandparents. Marvin Marbles was the grandson of the late Josiephine and William Marbles, Sr. Marvin was raised by his grandparents, alongside his brother, William (Sonny) Marbles III, and his closest cousin, Barbra Jean Lewis. Marvin graduated from Richardson High School and later went on to serve in the army after being drafted at the age of 18, straight from high school.
At the age of 20, Marvin met Minnie Pearl Badger. He liked to say that it was "love at first sight." They then married in 1971. Together, they were blessed with four children, Shaneka, Derrick, Derrell, and Deshawn.
Marvin was a strong, hard-working man who lived a full life. Marvin retired from Graphic Packaging after 42 years of service. Despite having a large family, Marvin was always available for everyone. He always provided love and support to anyone he came in contact with, even strangers. He loved attending high school football games "Under the Friday Night Lights", watching college football on Saturdays, and NFL football on Sundays. He also enjoyed listening to the band, going to the casino, listening to his favorite music, and being around his children, grandchildren, and close friends.
On April 14, 2024, in Monroe, Louisiana, Marvin made the transition to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by Minnie Pearl Marbles. Marvin leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Shaneka Marbles; sons, Derrick, Derrell, and Deshawn; brother, William (Sonny) Marbles III; sisters, Fleeta and Linda; grandchildren, Kenderick, Darlneka, Tarya, Daneisha, and Shamka; great-grandchildren, Layla, Kurian, Audrey, and Kove; closest cousin, Barbra Jean Lewis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
We will never say goodbye to Marvin's soul, but today, we are saying goodbye to his body.
