After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Marvin Otis Thorne, 76, of 708 North Wickham Avenue, Princeton passed peacefully Saturday evening, November 26, 2005 to meet his Lord and Savior. Born October 26, 1929, at Princeton, he was the son of the late Charlie M. and Junie B. Scott Thorne. Marvin graduated from Athens High School, entered the service to serve with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Marvin enjoyed a long law enforcement career, spanning for more than 25 years, he retired in 1990 as the Chief of Police for the City of Princeton. Marvin was dedicated to his profession, he was devoted to serving the good citizens of Princeton and protecting our children. He was a member of the WV Chief of Police Association, the Fraternal Order of Police # Princeton. Also, many people will remember Marvin has having owned and operated a lawn mower repair shop for many years. He was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church, Halls Ridge Road, Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Thorne and Carlyle Thorne along with a sister, Mabel White. Survivors His loving, caring and devoted wife of 57 years, Carroll Faye Wiley Thorne Four Sisters Crystal Eades Frazier of Princeton Edith Hypes & husband Dewey of Roanoke, VA Elaine Butler & husband Carl of Island Creek Alice Skeens & husband Pete of Toledo, Ohio One Brother Joe Thorne and wife Jackie of Princeton A host of nieces and nephews Two sisters in laws Margaret Thorne Nalva Eades both of Princeton Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor�s; John King, Jim Simmons and Jim Nofsinger officiating and singing. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family today from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Family & Friends may share online condolence via www.memorialfd.com Serving as pallbearers are Abby Cassey, Casoe Martin, The Thorne Family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
