Marvin Leonard Wild, 71, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville. He was born August 19, 1942 to the late Carl Marvin Wild and Vivian Christine Johnson Wild. Along with his father, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Chantel Marie Wild and his sister Karen Wild. Marvin joined the US Navy in 1960, the same year he met Ronni Ellis whom he married August of 1961 in Wilson, NC. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a wood-working master. He loved to sit in his workshop and build things for others and create sculptures at the foundry. He belonged to the American Legion Post 40, of Bangor, ME,, the American Legion Post 128 of Niantic, CT, VFW Local 22, Torrington, CT, VFW Local 88, in Brevard, the Voiture Nationale of the Forty and Eighth. He was a man who was adored by his family and loved by his friends. Loving family members he leaves behind include his mother, Vivian Christine Johnson Wild; daughters, Katherine Elizabeth Wild and husband Mark and Lisa Wild Cornell and husband Willard, both of Connecticut, sister Nancy Davis and husband Jim of Brevard; brothers Peter Wild and wife Hortensia of Charlotte, NC and Johnathan Wild of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren Jessica Shain Raymond, Emily Nicole Dudzic, Justin Michael Dudzic and Dustin Hamlin and wife Jilissa and great-grandchildren Cole Hamlin, Kelly Madison Williams and Hayden Kinopsis; Tracy Sherman, who held his heart, Fred and Shirley Lathem, Timmy Norton, Evie Groper, Linda Havel, Richard Merrell, Scott and Jennifer Boehmer, Denny Taylor, and too many others to list. A gathering of friends will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home of Brevard. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity or to VFW Local 88, 56 E. Jordan Street, Brevard, NC 28712, VFW 19, 339 Bricktop Road, Willimantic, CT 06226, or to the Forty and Eighth, 8 Club View Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28739.
