Mary and her friend Marge would often frequent the restaurant I worked at from 1996-2002. They would come in after their weekly walks for some coffee and snacks. What a fun happy pair they made. Mary was always so happy and bubbly. They looked forward to my service but though I prided myself for " good service" they more favored if I´d rib them. They´d often say that if I didn´t pick on them, I must not like them anymore. In 2002 I changed my employment to Applebee´s in Augusta. While no longer in the vicinity of Mary and Marge´s walks, Mary continued to frequent my service, but now accompanied with her husband Al. They would come see me at least once a week. I always looked forward to seeing both of them. Such a dear couple. I loved both of them as though they were my parents. They always were interested to know how my sons and husband were doing and Mary would always fill me in on all her children, grandchildren and greats. She always wore one of her many "cat" shirts and just beamed while sitting across from Al. So obvious her love for him. Also just as obvious his love for her. My husband also spent 20 years in the military and they both felt akin. Once my husband and I went to our oldest son´s Marine ball and I showed Mary the photo that was taken of us. She asked me if she could have a copy and I told her of course I´d bring it for her the following week. When they came in the following week she was so excited I´d remembered the picture then she surprised me with a photo of the two of them!! I treasure that picture. When Covid hit in 2020 my biggest sadness was knowing that it wasn´t safe for Mary and Al to come see me on their weekly trips. So I´d call her once in a while to check on them. I´m sad to admit life gets in the way, and I wish I´d called more often. I´m not sure when, but sometime over the years we started sending Christmas cards to each other. It just hit me here late on New Year´s Day that I didn´t get a card this year. That´s what brings me here with tears in my eyes finding out that she had been ill in October and I didn´t know. My heart goes out to her loving family and also to poor Al who I´ll guess is lost without her. Such a wonderful woman and a beautiful soul. 92!! And she never seemed more than 30 to me. <3 <3 <3

Andy and his family, I understand the feelings at the loss of your Mother and have my deepest sympathy. I meet Mary just a few times at Andy's house and enjoyed the times. God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
