Mary Darlene Allen

Mary Darlene (DeFoe) Allen, age 87, passed away peacefully November 5, 2025 with family by her side. Mary was born on July 3, 1938- the firstborn of 8 children to Arthur and Borghild (Tollefsrud) DeFoe of Watford City, ND. The siblings were raised with love and faith and all remain incredibly close. They call themselves the “Gang of Eight”! Mary had 5 children and her fierce love for family, her independence and her “Never Give Up” attitude is instilled in each of them. She was kind, giving and wonderfully creative. Her faith and family gave her the strength to endure the hard parts of life and rejoice in the many blessings she was given. She lived and loved with purpose. Her legacy continues with her children, Anna (Eric) Pederson of Cook, MN; Brenda (John) de Montigny, Brian (Jo) Petterson, Doyle Petterson all of Gillette, WY; her siblings: Roberta Hepp, LeRoy (Diane) DeFoe, Jerry (JoAnn) DeFoe, Alice (Dale) Gelling, Patricia (Arnie) Calkins, Patrick (Gayle) DeFoe and Dave (Paulette) DeFoe. Mary has 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many, many much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Donny Petterson, brother-in-law, Jerry Hepp, 2 granddaughters, first husband and the father of her children, Harold Petterson and second husband, Tom Allen. The family will host a Celebration of Life gathering at Cornerstone Church of Gillette on Thursday, November 13, 2025 with social hour at 1:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m., and coffee and desserts at the church.
