Mary Stamatis Anderson

Anderson, Mary Stamatis (80) of Minneapolis passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2025. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 57 years, John Anderson. Mary attended South High School and worked for NW Bell/AT&T for 37 years. Mary was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, and homemaker who taught her family the art of Greek cooking and baking. Her main interest was giving , sharing, and helping others. She had a great love and pride for her sons.

Mary was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, the Philoptochos Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 129 for 39 years. Besides cooking and providing, she enjoyed gardening roses. Mary traveled the country with John as a Navy wife 1968-1972.

She is survived by husband John and sons John (Eleni) and Christopher, grandchildren George and Mimika, and sisters Theodora and Evangeline and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Thomas and Mimika Karakatsanis and brother John Karas.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Friday, January 9 at 11am at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Avenue South, Minneapolis. There will be a visitation for one hour prior. Family will hold a private interment at Lakewood cemetery.
