Mary Ann Raasch, 98, of Wausau passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Gardens Assisted Living facility, Wausau. Mary Ann was born June 21, 1927 in Wausau, the first child of Elmer and Lorraine (Seidler) Degner. She was united in marriage to LeRoy “Oscar” Raasch on July 3, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She was employed at the former Wausau Motor Parts Co. After she and her husband retired in 1975 they moved to their year round cottage on the Willow Flowage, outside of Tomahawk. They had many friends there and enjoyed fishing and spending time at the Mug & Jug. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and attended many country music fests at the Hodag. She most recently lived at Forrest Park Village in Wausau. Mary Ann was fun loving and a joy to be around. She had an outgoing personality and always had a smile on her face. Also, much like her sisters, she was feisty right up to the end. Those that knew her quickly realized that after faith and family, she loved life, parties, bingo, the Brewers and bloody marys.
Surviving are her brother, James (Dianne) Degner of AR; sisters-in-law Nancy Schroyer and Carole Degner; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Pauline .
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Strehlow and Elaine Degner; and her brothers, Elmer Degner jr., Roger Degner, Robert Degner and Laverne Degner.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Forrest Park Village and the Gardens for their loving care while she lived there. We would also like to thank the staff at Aspirus Hospice for their loving care as well. Finally, we would like recognize and thank Mary Ann's niece, Diana Buska for her unconditional love, care and support
