Mary Ring Obituary

Mary Ann Ring
November 20, 2025
Mary Ann (Graziani) Ring, 82, of Torrington, CT, a beloved educator and cherished member of her community, passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2025, at her residence. Born on May 5, 1943, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Mary Ann devoted her life to nurturing young minds as a teacher for 35 years. She began her teaching career at Wetmore School in Torrington, where she taught for 5 years before moving to the Warren School in Region 6, where she spent the remainder of her 35-year teaching career before retiring.
Throughout her life, Mary Ann was not only a committed educator but also an active participant in numerous community and faith-based organizations. She served on the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary Board of Directors and volunteered for many years working in the Gift Shop. Mary Ann was deeply involved in Altrusa International Inc. of Litchfield County, where she proudly served as President for numerous years. Her dedication to service extended to her parish and local schools as well-she was a member of the Legion of Mary, a Religious Instructor in the Formation Program of St. John Paul the Great Parish, and an active participant in the Council of Catholic Women. Mary Ann also contributed her time and leadership as a Former School Board member for St. Peter School and was active in the Home and School Association at St. Peter School while her daughter attended. A lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church, she served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. In her leisure time, Mary Ann found enjoyment in being a member of the Mah Jongg Madames, a pastime that brought her joy and camaraderie. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to education and the church made a lasting impact on those she taught and interacted with throughout her life.
Mary Ann is survived by her beloved daughter, Laura Cecilione, and her husband, Greg, of Freehold, NJ. She was a proud grandmother to two grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Cecilione. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Taylor; two nieces, Mary Elizabeth Taylor and Leann Mitchell; great-niece, Adley Mitchell; and great-nephews, Nathaniel and Rhys Wilcox; many cousins; and countless friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Anna (Leoni) Graziani, and her sister, Joann Taylor; her uncles, Americo and Rev. Joseph Graziani, aunts, Catherine DiBerardino, Viola Ficca, Pierina Serra, and Angelina Cisco.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main St., Torrington, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Francis New Cemetery. Friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church. Calling hours will be held at Cook Funeral Home in Torrington, CT, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
