Mary Baetz

Mary L Baetz, a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 30, 2023. Born in Cherokee, Oklahoma on January 9, 1943, to Clyde and Larene Sayre, Mary was the middle child of seven. She married her devoted partner, Ronald "Bear" Baetz, on June 4, 1961, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1978. The couple spent many years traveling across the U.S., visiting as many LDS temples as they could.
Mary was a compassionate and generous woman, dedicating her life to her family and her faith. She held various callings within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving in the young women's organization, the relief society, loved singing in the Tooele Community Messiah choir multiple years and on three service missions. She was also a dedicated employee at the Tooele Army Depot, where she worked as an Ammo Specialist before her retirement. Mary's hobbies included crocheting, circle word puzzles, and quilting. Yet above all, what mattered most to Mary was her husband Bear and their daughters.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Baetz; her siblings Larry Sayre, Tom Sayre, John Sayre, Sue Smith, Dale Sayre; her daughters, Amy Gladden and Ella Moore; her sons-in-law, Shaun Gladden and Brendan Moore; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Larene Sayre; her sister, Naomi Hall; her daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Chris VonNeiderhausen, and her grandson, Matthew Gladden.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Tooele 7th Ward building, located at 1025 West Utah Ave., Tooele, Utah 84074. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at the same location.
