Mary Elizabeth Tucker Bebbs, daughter of the late James Edward Tucker and Lula Elizabeth Price was born in Surry County, VA on March 14, 1914. She passed into eternal life quickly and peacefully after an unexpected illness at Northwest Hospital's Seasons Hospice Inpatient Care -
Randallstown, MD on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. She was 102.
Her early years were spent in
Richmond, VA where she graduated from Armstrong High School. A desire to excel in Elementary Education, she earned a Professional Certification from St. Paul's Normal School, Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Union University, Master's Degree from Virginia State College, and Advanced Professional Certification from Virginia Sate Dept. of Education and University of Virginia.
Elizabeth was married to the late John Mitchell Bebbs. Mrs. Bebbs dedicated her life to the education of children. This dedication spanned 40 years and her accomplishments were many: Acting Registrar - Lawrenceville, St. Paul's College; Teacher - Chesterfield County, John Moncure High School, Midlothian Elementary, East End Jr. High School; Adjunct Instructor and Assistant Principal East End Jr. High School.
Prior to moving to
Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Bebbs was a member of the Second Baptist Church in South Richmond. While in Maryland, she was a member of Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church.
