Mary Ellen Komada Beemer, a vibrant woman whose smile and laughter could light up a room, died on November 2, 2025, while traveling abroad with her devoted husband of 12 years, Dennis Beemer.
Mary was born on August 4, 1948, in Shelbyville, Illinois and spent her childhood playing (and later working) in the fields of her family farm. An alumna of Eastern Illinois University, Mary earned her B.S. in Business and embarked on a successful career as a real estate agent, serving her community from 1978 until her retirement in 2014.
A devout Christian, Mary Ellen's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of Wake Forest United Methodist Church, where she found joy singing in the choirs, attending Adult Sunday School, and working with the church's Cracked Pots gardening group.
An avid golfer, she accomplished the remarkable feat of two hole-in-ones. Her green thumb brought beauty to the world, and her culinary talents were a source of delight to family and friends alike. A lover of the arts, Mary enjoyed singing, dancing, and attending local ballet and symphony performances. Finally, she had a flair for decorating, which made her home a warm and welcoming haven.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her dear sister, Linda Gullion, and beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Her stepchildren, Andrew Beemer (Devon), Shana Miller (James), and Lauren Forgas (Brian) will hold her memory dear, as will her many friends. Mary's legacy also lives on through her adored grandchildren, Kai and Lucas Miller, Olivia, Nathan and Dylan Beemer, and Aaron and Cole Forgas. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Bernadine Pieper, her brothers, Kenneth, Edwin Jr., and Paul Pieper, and her sister, Vera Budde.
As we bid farewell to Mary Ellen Komada Beemer, we celebrate this remarkable woman she was and the countless lives she touched. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Mary's journey on earth has ended, but her story-written in the lives she enriched-will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on December 5, 2025, at Wake Forest United Methodist Church at 11am. A reception with light refreshments will follow in the WFUMC Family Life Center.
