Mary Bowa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mercy Funeral Home LLC on Feb. 16, 2026.
Mary Kraim Bowa, beloved wife of the late Petres Bowa, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Sterling Heights, Michigan, surrounded by her family. Born on July 1, 1931, in Telkaif, Iraq, to Toma and Zarifa Kraim, Mary was rooted in faith and family. She prayed daily and relied on her faith in every season of life, allowing it to guide the way she loved and cared for others. Her home was a place of gathering, and her kitchen was always open. Cooking was how she expressed love, ensuring that anyone who entered was welcomed and fed. Mary's greatest joy was her large family. She remained devoted to them throughout her life. She will be remembered for her faith, her dedication to her family, and the lasting impact she made on generations to come.

Mary's incredible legacy continues through her eleven children: Souad (the late Salim) Bahoura, Najat (Mike) Semma, Majed (Ibtissam) Bowa, Salam Bowa, Hana (Samee) Najor, Menhal Bowa, Ghayda (Joe) Semma, Basil (Rita) Bowa, Ban (Najah) Jamil, Afnan (Wisam) Kashat, and Evan (Mazin) Kizy. She was also the proud and devoted grandmother of 35 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 29 great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember her for her strength and the warmth she brought into their lives.

Bereavement with the family will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Troy Palace Banquet Hall, 2160 E. Maple Road, Troy, MI. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mother of God Chaldean Catholic Church in Southfield, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join a memorial luncheon at Troy Palace Banquet Hall immediately following the burial, where they are welcome to sit and mourn with the family until 7:00 p.m.
