Mary Elizabeth Burch

Miss Mary Elizabeth Burch, 77, of Gastonia and formerly of Belmont, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born May 23, 1932 in Belmont, a daughter of the late Charlie Alfred and Gussie Hutto Burch. Mary retired from R.L. Stowe Mills with twenty years of service and was a member of East Belmont Freewill Baptist Church. Mary was a stranger to no one, was a caregiver to many, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Alfred Burch, Lillian Pittman, Lloyd Burch, Ruby Helms, and Edith Harris. Mary is survived by her sisters, Pauline Barnes of Lowell; Clara Lackey of Belmont; and Nellie Current of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm, Friday, February 12, 2010 at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 3pm, Friday, in the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont with Dr. Tom Tatum officiating.
