Mary Ann C. Heyer

Mary Ann Heyer, age 88, a beloved resident of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, Wisconsin with rosary in hand.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield with the Rev. Barry Saylor officiating. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Pallbearers will be Blake Heyer, Clay Heyer, Robert McQuillen, Ethan Richmond, Flynn McQuillen, and Noah Mahner. The Mass will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield on Thursday, August 29 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and at the church on Friday, August 30 from 10:00 am until service time.
Mary Ann was born on April 6, 1936, to John & Anna (Resch) Hamus of Auburndale. She grew up in Auburndale, where she attended Hillside School and Auburndale High School, graduating from Marshfield Columbus High School in 1953. After school, Mary Ann was employed as a switchboard operator, and later worked the Hotel Charles where numerous lifelong friendships were formed. It was there where Mary Ann met her future husband and lifelong love, Irving "Irv" Heyer. Mary Ann married Irv on August 16, 1975, and together they built a beautiful life centered around love, faith, and dedication. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Mary Ann loved being outdoors, gardening, cooking, and chatting with friends and relatives. Mary Ann had a deep love for animals and spent many joyful years caring for her beloved dachshunds.
Mary Ann had a deep passion for decorating the family home for the holidays (including her renowned Easter Egg tree that was featured in the local newspaper and local television news). She was an active member of St. John the Baptist church, where she contributed her time and talents in various capacities. Mary Ann also found joy in playing Sheepshead, Chinese checkers, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Her generosity, kindness, and strong moral compass touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving sons, Vaughn E. (Kathryn) and Travis J. (Danielle) Heyer, and Joseph J. (Virag) Gregory, her grandchildren, Vivian Heyer, Molly Heyer, Blake Heyer, Clay Heyer, Tyler (Kelly) Gregory and Nicole (Greg) Cook, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by six nieces and seven nephews, Raymond J. (Mary) and Russell (Elaine) Bauer, Gene (Joan) Hamus, Jr., Kay (Paul) Holland, Marie (Tom) Willfahrt, John Hamus, Ann Hamus (friend Keith), Mark (Terri) Hamus, Sue (Mike) Schmidt, Jane (Al) Konop, Tom (Sherrie) Hamus, Paul (Jill) Hamus, and Mary (Tom) Huber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Lorraine Hamus, brother Eugene (Wanda) Hamus, and sister Lucille (Raymond "Petsie") Bauer.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the network of family and friends that helped her in the later years of her life, as well as to the staffs at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital and Lawlis Family Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Mary Ann in her final days. Mary Ann's gentle spirit, loving nature, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
