Mary Chestnut Obituary
She is survived by two sisters, Stella Creel of Culpeper and Joyce Shifflett of Crozet, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary was very proud of the fact that she worked until the age of 83 putting in many years at G.E., Brownsville Market, and Parkway Pharmacy.
Her favorite things, in life, included traveling to Tennessee, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Disney as well as going out to eat. These trips were shared with a few special nieces Becky, Michelle, Lorrie, and Rhonda as well as great nieces and great nephews she thought of as grandchildren.
While she remained very strong willed and stubborn until the end, she will be remembered for her big heart and giving personality. The family wishes to extend a special Thanks to Stephanie and Olivia for the care they helped provide over the last year as well as Hospice of the Piedmont.
A visitation will be held at the Church of the Brethren at 4152 Free Union Road, Free Union, Virginia on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00 am, accompanied by the funeral ceremony at 12:00 pm, followed by the burial at Holly Memorial Gardens.

I worked with Mary at Brownsville Market for many years. She was always cheerful and smiling. After her stint at Brownsville, she went to work at Parkway Pharmacy and she and I would always greet each other and talk about old times each time I came in. Her warm smile and her great personality will be missed. Rip Mary.
