Mary Clemens, 88, of Eyota, MN died suddenly on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Mary was born on August 19, 1937, in Rochester, MN, to William and Genevieve (La Barge) Palmby. She married Donald Clemens on September 29, 1956 at the Catholic church in St. Charles and was happily married for 66 years prior to Don's death in 2023.
Mary graduated from St. Charles High School and went on to get a nursing degree in Winona. She dedicated herself to raising her family on the farm before pursuing a rewarding career. She worked at the State Hospital, Olmsted Medical Hospital, and Mayo Clinic at Children's R&R in Rochester. Her passion for helping others shone brightly in everything she did.
A woman of many interests, Mary found joy in gambling, playing bingo, and enjoying a good game of cards. She was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Twins and other Minnesota sports teams. She also loved reading, puzzles, cribbage, crocheting, and taking her annual trip to Mollie B.'s (polka music). Her love for baking brought smiles to countless faces as she always shared her delicious creations with friends and family. Family meant the world to Mary.
Mary is survived by her five daughters; Linda Clemens, Kay (Gary) Waletzki, Karen (Larry) Waletzki, Lori (Tom Holst) Clemens, all of Eyota, MN, Julie (Brent) Richardson of Stewartville, MN; ten grandchildren, Jeff, Brian, Adam, Jessica, Matt, Melissa, Jon, Christopher, Michael, Daniel; nine great-grandchildren; one step-sister, Elaine Rysted of Stewartville, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don; two sons, Mark (10 yrs old) and Gary (3 mos. old); brothers, Tom, Ronal "Preacher," Larry; step-brothers, Bob and Bill.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota with the Reverend Jonathan Fasnacht officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday at the church and one hour prior to Mass on Friday. She will be laid to rest at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
