Mary Colwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30th at the age of 75. She was a resident of Blairsville and touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit.
Born on December 6, 1948 in Fannin County, Mary was the daughter of Hanson (Hamp) and Thelma Stewart. She spent her early years in Blue Ridge, Georgia, where she worked for the Fannin County Bank for 10 years. Her passion for life was evident in everything she did; whether she was nurturing her family, going to basketball and softball games, or lending a helping hand to those in need.
Mary and her husband, Curtis Colwell, shared a beautiful life together, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They were married on March 9, 1974 and enjoyed a wonderful life together. Mary was a devoted wife, always supporting her husband's dreams and aspirations and standing by his side throughout their life together.
As a mother, Mary was the guiding light to her children, Haley (Scotty) Dyer; Luke (Rebecca) Colwell; and Jake (Stacy) Colwell. She instilled in them the values of compassion, resilience, and the importance of family. Her seven grandchildren, Sloane Dyer; Jules Dyer; Catherine Colwell; Eliza Colwell; Grant Colwell; Samantha Colwell; and Emmett Colwell brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Mary was known for her culinary skills, vivacious personality, and community involvement. She was an active member of Kiwanis Club, where she made lasting friendships and contributed to the betterment of her community. She attended Church of Christ in Blairsville, where she was an active member and devoted to the word of God- never failing to share the Gospel with others!
Mary's laughter was contagious, her smile brightened the room, and her love knew no bounds. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville.
